About Our Scout Group
At 1st Balgowlah Scout Group we have sections for:
Joeys (5-8) who meet on a Monday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00pm
Cubs (8-11) who meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00pm
Scouts (11-14) who meet on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30pm
Weekend activities occur as per term programs. These events will be notified in advance and may be run at a group, district, state or national level.
Our group is run by myself, the Group Leader and I have overall responsibility for the successful operation of our group. I am supported by trained and qualified cub and scout leaders who deliver the youth programs and a group support committee. The committee comprises the chairman, treasurer and committee members who manage all aspects of running the group, maintaining our hall, grounds and our financial stability to deliver our programs.
About Fees
- An annual State Membership fee that includes essential insurance for members, Leader training, a wide range of resources, and essential support services including finance, IT, property and facilities, child safety team and communications. Click here for a detailed information sheet on Membership Fees
- A local Group Activity fee covers the week-to-week expenses of running Scouts – resources, maintenance and utilities of the Scout Hall, and regular meeting activities.
- One-off costs – there are many opportunities for additional participation in Scouts and there may be associated fees like camping charges, travel, event fees etc.
State and Group fees are billed as one fee in two separate invoices in January and July each year. New members will also be charged a one-off administration joining fee.
Parents can offset State fees through the use of the Active Kids Rebate.
About Your Involvement
Our Group is volunteer run and we cannot deliver our programs without your involvement.
We will regularly need new leaders and I welcome the opportunity to speak to you about becoming a leader and the benefits you will gain.
Should you have any questions please feel free to contact me at any time.
Kind regards
Tom
